29 years ago today, I married my high school sweetheart.
We were only 16 years old (no, that's not a typo!)....very young, but also very determined - with the Lord's help - to make a wonderful life together. And by His grace, we have.
Many of our former classmates can't believe we're still married. They never thought it would last. One of our family members even speculated that we would be divorced by our first anniversary.
Has it all been a bed of roses? Nope.
Have we hit some speed bumps along the way? Yep.
But the vows we took on our wedding day were - and still are - important to us : we made those vows in front of witnesses, but most importantly, we made a covenant with Almighty God to stay together 'til "death do us part".
Through all the tough times, our love has grown stronger and we are even more committed to each other now than ever before. And there's no way we could have gotten through the tough times without the Lord's help. Soli Deo Gloria!
My hubby is my lover, best friend, and confidante. We cry together..and laugh together..sorrow together..rejoice together. I can't even imagine my life without him.
So I eagerly look forward to the next 29 years...and more after that, if the Lord tarries.
I can truly say, "I am my beloved's,
And my beloved is mine.." Song of Solomon 6:3
Have a blessed day,

Oh Lisa....what a beautifully written post.
ReplyDeleteLike you, the odds of my husband and I making it were very slim. But I guess, we never took into consideration Our Lord Jesus ;-D
Happy Anniversary Lisa! May Our Lord continue to guide you and continue to be the center of your union.
In His Name,
Maria
Happy Anniversary! I pray blessings on the next 30 plus years. May they bring much happiness and joy to you two and the Lord. You are a inspiration !!! We are only a little less than 9 yrs behind you. [o=

Lisa,
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you! I am so glad that you had a chance to stop by my blog www.throughmylensetlh.blogspot.com! Thanks so much for joining, I look forward to following you as well!
Happy Anniversary! What a sweet post!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Lisa! I'd love to hear your story. You have me intrigued! My parents were 16 and 18 when they got married. My husband and I were both 19. I'm sure people try to tell us to wait, but we didn't listen. Thanks for sharing this. What an encouragement it is to me, to hear the testimony of a couple's love that still exists after 29 years!
ReplyDeleteWow that's amazing....happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYay for you! That's amazing and I aspire to such wonderful years with my husband. (My folks have made it for 44 years thus far and they set a great example, too!) <3 ("Hopped" over via Homemaker By Choice.)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! That is SO wonderful that you and your husband have been married for so long, and determined to stay together no matter what happens in life! Compared to you, I'm still a "newlywed," with only being married for 5 years, tee hee. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post as well as a wonderful testimony regarding marriage! :)
Happy Anniversary! I LOVE to see a marriage work and last! :) Thank you for sharing and for linking up with us. Blessings xoxo
