Waiting on the Lord

We are creatures of time and ruled by the clock: time to wake up, time to eat, time to go here or there.
Maybe that's why it's can be so hard for us to wait on the Lord: we want it now!

Whether we've been waiting on Him to intervene in a situation, or waiting for an answer concerning a big decision, waiting is hard!

Sometimes it may seem as if God is silent.

But we know from His Word that He has a plan for our lives.  Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

He is still in control; even though we might not see Him working,  He is there.

Psalm 27:14 says that we are supposed to "be of good courage" while waiting on the Lord, and He "will strengthen" our hearts.

There's a Twila Paris song from years ago that has the words,
"I will wait on the Lord,
I will wait for His word.
Before I move, before I speak,
                                              Perfect wisdom I will seek.
And I will wait as long as it takes.
I will wait on the Lord."

We are all familiar with Isaiah 40:31  "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint."

No matter what the details of our waiting might be, may we not grow weary while waiting on Him....knowing that if we commit our way to Him and trust Him, He shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:5)

  2. What a great reminder! I am definitely one who has a hard time waiting... for just about everything! We live in such an instant gratification world that patience no longer needs to be used. We can have it OUR way, and NOW! Thank you for the reminder to wait on the Lord. :)
