At the End of the Day...

Sometimes when I have trouble falling asleep at night, I think back on my day and wonder...

Did I honor the Lord in everything I did, or selfishly live the day for myself? "Therefore, whether you or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." ~ 1 Corinthians 10:31

Did I work diligently to keep things running smoothly in our home, or let things go awry because I was too indifferent to what was going on? "She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. "  ~ Proverbs 31:27

Was I a crown to my husband, or was I too focused on myself to care about his needs and serve him? "An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones." ~ Proverbs 12:4

Did I set a godly example in front my children, or was I too pre-occupied with other things to care what kind of testimony I have? "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." ~ Deuteronomy 6: 6&7

Did I use a gentle tone of voice, or snap at the children out of frustration? "..rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." ~ 1 Peter 3:4 ;  " And on her tongue is the law of kindness." ~ Proverbs 31:26b

Did I gossip and backbite other people, or did I hold my tongue and pray for them instead? "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." ~ Ephesians 4:29

Did I have a merry heart or a grumpy, self-pitying attitude? "A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance.." ~ Proverbs 15:13

Ok, ok, that's enough!!  :)

Wow..it's a tall order, isn't it? That isn't even all of it! I could list more, but I won't.

Let's be honest, friends: being a godly wife and mother is a tough, exhausting, feel-like-pulling-my-hair-out (just keepin' it real!) 24-hour aday career. Raising the future leaders of our churches and our country is a daunting task! How can we ever hope to accomplish it successfully?

As believers, Christ is sufficient for all that we need: "I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens me." ~ Philippians 4:13

We need to keep on keeping on, friends!! Keep on reading the Word, keep on praying, keep on teaching, keep on serving..just keep on!

He will provide our every need.

When we are in the deepest trenches of motherhood, He will see us through.

And when we see our children go on for God after they leave our nests, it will be worth it all...

all the time...

all the prayers...

and all the sacrifices.

"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." ~ 3 John 4

April Flexi of the Month

Happy Monday!

For the past several months, I have been so negligent about posting the Lilla Rose FOTM. Sorry!

But we have been so busy lately, and my laptop kicked the bucket - twice. *sigh*

So here is my feeble effort at trying catch up...the April Flexi of the Month....Dogwood.
Lovely!  :)

And there are new releases..

Beautiful!

I hope your week is beautiful as well.  :)

Recent Happenings

Happy Wednesday, friends!

It's hard to believe that I haven't posted anything since March 7th. It's been crazy busy around here the past several weeks! Here's what's been going on...

The day after my post about the Silkie chicks, we got some snow. Not much..just enough to cover the ground and make everything beautiful..

The next day, our chicks from McMurray Hatchery arrived..all 35 of them...

Aren't they adorable? Well, they were adorable. They are feathered out now, and looking more like adult chickens. The cute stage didn't last very long.  :(

A few days later, we found one of our Bantam hens was broody and is now on 6 eggs. Oops.. make that 4 eggs - 2 have already hatched!

One chick is light brown, probably an Aracuana. (The eggs she is setting on are not her own, but eggs from our other hens.)

The other chick is almost entirely black, which means it was fathered by Ian's huge black rooster, aptly named Gigantor. See how massive he is compared to our hens?

You can see Gigantor's chick peeking out from under the Bantam's feathers on the lower left side.  :)

And as if we didn't have enough birds in the house (in the den beside the wood stove for warmth), we bought 16 White Pekin ducklings from our local Tractor Supply.  Ducks are my favorite birds!! :) They are straight run, so we don't know how many males and females we have. Only time will tell.

How cute are they?!

Mimi loved carrying the ducks around the house, providing there was a "duck diaper" (paper towel) under the duck at all times.  ;) She and her siblings did a great job of taming them.
When the birds got old enough (or rather when we got tired of the constant chirping), we moved all of them out to the barn.

On the days when the weather is warm enough, we let the ducks out to graze in the field.  Mimi is getting plenty of opportunities to sharpen her duck herding skills..

But she also makes sure each duckling gets some TLC.. :)

Sometimes, she just sits and watches them. They are quite entertaining.  :)

Ok, enough about the birds. Spring has finally sprung here and that means it garden planting time..at least the early crops.

So far, we have planted peas, carrots, kale, mustard, and spinach..

And, of course, you simply can't plant  a freshly plowed garden with shoes on, right? Barefooting is the only way to go!  ;)

While digging in the dirt, we found this cocoon..

Ian, our resident entomologist, couldn't identify it. So we put it in a jar, hoping that we will eventually get to see what's inside. Whatever it is, I am sure it will be fun to sketch in our Nature journals.

~Psalm 33:5b "The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord."

Have a great rest-of-the-week!  :)
