Reading Proverbs 25 this morning, I found this jewel...
"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold
In settings of silver."
I have read this verse on the 25th of every other month, but for some reason, it jumped out at me more so this morning than before. I quickly wrote in my commonplace book.
There's not much explaining needed about this verse, is there? Just saying the right thing at the right time. I needed this reminder today.
Sharing this post with Dawn.
The concept of things being 'fit' is one that I was reminded of by Andrew Kern and continues to pop out at me several years later. Thanks for drawing this one to my attention :) I need that reminder pretty regularly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me today, Dawn. Glad to hear that you found some encouragement here. :)
DeleteWhenever asked, my go-to answer is this verse!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Lee. :)
DeleteThis one is in one of the Miller family series devotionals with a really nice story to illustrate it. It is one of my favorites from Proverbs.
ReplyDeleteI have heard so many good things about those devotionals, Christine. I should put them on my "to get" list. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting today. Keeping you and yours in my prayers.
My best friend gave that verse to me when I first became a Christian. Proverbs is full of wisdom about how we speak - amazing that we can read them over many years and they still come to us in a fresh way.
ReplyDeleteI love Proverbs, too, Carol. Every day I learn something new, something the Lord wants to gently remind me of.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in. :)
I'm reading Proverbs, too. I'm almost at the end on chapter 29 so I came across that verse yesterday morning. What caught my eye this morning was in chapter 28. It's the 2nd verse. I have a self help edition bible that helps me to understand the scriptures better.
ReplyDelete'When there is moral rot within a nation, it's government topples easily. But with wise and knowledgeable leaders, there is stability.'
Hi Dee,
DeleteI like that translation, and how true that verse is!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a super Saturday. :)
