First Day of School

Yesterday was our first day of school. And it was wonderful...mostly because we started using the CM method. It was a very relaxing, stress-free, learning-filled day.

Once I explained the CM method to the children, they were very eager to get started on this new aspect of our homeschool journey.

I ordered some wonderful books for the new year. They haven't arrived yet, but I did take some photos of what we did on our first day....
Of course, Bible is always our first subject.   :)

Mimi likes her workbook, but she would rather use manipulatives. I agree with her.  :)

                                                   Aaron working on Math.

Ian writing Scripture verses for penmanship.

                                            Asher decorating his Nature Journal.

                                                  They love the Time Line.

Examining a grasshopper on the our nature hike.

                                                   And a Thorn-back Spider.

                                                        And a Harvestman.

Cracking open a nut to see what's inside.

                                                     Examining some moss.

Back home to journal in our Nature Journals.

Have a blessed day,

  5. Lisa... it looks terrific!
I'm so happy you like CM and your children too.
I've been looking at your posts, and you HAVE NATURE IN YOU.
I know you are researching hard. But you know something. You may be doing lots of CM things already intuitively. And the joy of this it's to grow slowly, there is no race to be more CM just because of it.
She taught to the children, not a curriculum, and THAT'S exactly what you are doing.
Your children look amazing, and learning about God and the Scriptures is the most important thing.
I'm glad I've found you, after all, even if I know something about CM, you are a more experience mom and teacher, so I'm eager to learn from you.
I feel very inspired and encouraged by you.
Keep asking, I'll answer or look for the answers to give you anytime I can.

  6. Hi Lisa! Nice to "meet" you! :)
I am so impressed with your school...people who can do Charlotte Mason like that make me happy. Especially when you have more than two children doing it...that is just awesome! I look forward to more of your blog, it is lovely.
